Two Wolves

by Kyle Schulz   Feb 26, 2006

Two wolves as close as brothers,
Lived among the rest,
Among them no wrong could come,
But soon would come a fatal test,

The gray wolf and his black friend,
Were with the rest of the pack,
The rest of them could not know what they shared
None closer than the gray and the black,

However on day after a fresh kill,
There occurred a debate,
Over such things as who would eat more,
And whether one should take a mate,

They could not share their accomplishment,
With the other friend,
I am sorry to say that,
This did not have a good end,

The argument fell upon a girl,
Whom they both had will to see,
They bickered, squabbled and gnashed their teeth,
Neither thought the other could possibly be,

The one to be with the girl,
and even though they were friends,
Turned their backs on each other,
And each sought his own ends,

Seasons come and seasons go,
The female wolf moved on,
She did not look at either of them,
Before the spring she was gone,

But now a rift had formed,
One that could not be filled
Now they run with their own packs,
And hunt for separate kills,

Moral of this story you ask,
It is simply put this way,
Worldly things may come and go,
But friends are here to stay,

Don't waste your friendship,
Gold has little value at all,
Compared to the help of a good friend,
When you start to stumble and fall
