Looking For Love

"Looking for Love"

As I stroll along the sandy shore of Old Lyme,
I am caught up in the moment,
The day is amazingly beautiful
For a September afternoon,

I look at all the people as I am strolling by,
there are all shapes, sizes, types,
and I am struck with the feeling that no one
Is really aware of how beautiful the day is!

They are just there, sitting, lying, sleeping,
playing in the sand, no one in the water.

I am also, struck, with the fact
that no one seems to be happy or at peace
They are just staring into the endless ocean,
showing no emotion what so ever.

I patiently look for that special couple,
You know the one that can't keep their
hands off of each other.
They are so in love that it shows.

I am almost at the end of my stroll,
and haven't found them.
Just as I am about to give up,
I finally see what I was searching for.

They are probably about 75 years old,
and they are lying on a teal blanket,
facing each other,
The woman has her head resting on the
man's shoulder and,
he is caressing her hair,
and the most tender thing I noticed,
their feet were touching each other.

I almost cried with joy, that is what I was
looking for all day,
That hope, that spark of wonderment,
that love still exists, and is prevailing.
So my seasoned couple,
Here's to you, and many more years
of holding each other on many September afternoons!
You are a sight to behold!

Author's Notes: I know I am a romantic at heart, This really happened today when I was at the beach! It made me so happy to see this elderly couple so much in love. Bravo, this poem is dedicated to all of you who have managed to remain in love after all these years!
Love, light, and peace, Amber Moonstone
