Sorry Wasn't Good Enough

by Cuddles   Mar 1, 2006

He'd told her he was sorry,
said he'd never do it again.
But he'd broken her heart so many times.
How could she ever forgive him?

She wanted to believe in him,
wanted to believe that he could change.
Things had been perfect once,
but life would never again be the same.

Her heart wanted to let him back in.
Oh, how she missed his gentle touch!
But no, she couldn't give in to him.
Sorry simply wasn't good enough.

So all the while he pleaded with her,
she thought of his picture with all the darts.
Thinking that he would never hurt her again,
she plunged a dagger into his heart.

Nicely done, a lot of the time the insanity is far too evident in poems like that, but that girl seems sane, if a bit of a fool for going out with a guy like that in the first place. 5/5
