375

by Tim Fleckney   Mar 1, 2006

375 streetlights
That's what I counted
375 streetlights
On the night
I staggered from the bar

Night after night
Drinking with my
Friends half listening
To conversations while
Thinking of you
Telling myself tonight
Tonight I won't count those
375 streetlights

375 streetlights
Such a long way to
walk night after night
Watching my feet kicking
up snow as I
Count them off
372,373,374

Night after night
Standing beneath
Streetlight number
375

Wind biting ears
Toes going numb
Staring at the snowflakes
Sparkling in the light from
Your bedroom window
wondering what would
Happen if
I just had the courage to
Knock on your door

WOW! This is just so wonderful... A really deep and meaningful write. The way it ended was perfect... I loved this one, it had a real lonely, needing love feel (Oh and the snow really added to the splendour of the poem)... :)

I think what really makes me love this poem is it's uniqueness . The title really catches the reader's eye and makes you want to go read what is beneath the 375 ...I really think that a title plays a big part in a poem .

The picture it painted was so clear , I really could see in my mind this poor soul standing there staring up at the window while shivering in the cold. Wondering....
A very well thought out piece , Tim
