The Leash

by Sarah Davis   Mar 2, 2006

You've got me wrapped around your leash,
Dragging me to and fro.
Dragging me to the ground.
You leave me shivering and cold again,
Controlling and abusing me with hateful words.
Why didn't I listen to my friends?
Why didn't I leave you when I had the chance?

Again you're jerking and strangling me with you leash.
Please stop that, it's hurting me.
My friends were right,
You don't love me and you never have,
I'm just your pet to show off.
I'm here only so you can abuse me, use me, and lie to me.
Wy do I ceaselessly put up with you?
Maybe it's because I love you?
Maybe it's because I want us to work?

But now that I ponder this,
I see I'm wrong and we were never meant to be.
If we truly were meant to be,
You would never hurt me like you do.

I love the leash analogy..... and this poem is so very true it reminds me of the quotes "no man is worth your tears and the one who is wont make you cry"
