Man of the Forest

by Izzie   Mar 2, 2006

Walking through my dreams
I hear him whisper my name
"Lizzie"
As I turn around
I see his tall dark figure
He reaches his hand towards me
"NO NO NO"
I scream
I turn around
And run
Through the trees
Over the fallen branches
The cold wind
Howls
Whipping my hair into my face
The trees sway back and forth
Ripping at my skin
I feel pain shot up and down my arms
My lungs scream for air
I turn around
I don't see anyone
I stop for a moment to catch my breath
There is no way out
I'm trapped
In a circle of trees
I don't even know where I came from
The owls call in the night
WHOOO WHOOO WHOOO
Then there it is again
"Lizzie"
I whip around
But don't see anything
I look all around me
Squinting
Trying to see something
A wolf howls in its pack
In the far distance
ARGOOO ARGOOO
The cold air runs down my back
I stand there in the middle of the woods
Shivering
I rub my hands on my arms
Trying to stimulate just a little warmth
"Lizzie, I see you"
I whip around again
And there he is
Standing just past the tree lines
His eyes gleam
His mouth is twisted in an upward smirk
He found me
I would run
But my lungs are on fire
Still screaming for air
I give up
There is no use in running
I collapse to the ground

Well done Izzy, this was a good poem. It's too bad it took me so long to come on here and read it. I am way behind on my reading.
