It Was You That Made Me Me

by Jemma   Mar 3, 2006

I could have run a thousand miles
So long as I'd heard you breathing
Just so I knew I was alive

I could have flown to the moon and back
So long as you were with me
As long as you'd never leave me

I could be myself, anyone I wanted
I could feel winter's grip on me finally receding
You made me free in this world

I left a message inscribed on a wall
I only hoped you'd find it
I couldn't longer hide it

I always looked the other way lest my eyes betrayed me
I was always the last to say hello lest my voice was shaky

I always knew I would have to hide my feelings
Never knew they were just waiting to shame me more

I climbed the mountains, ran all the way, everyday
A dream world only you can give me
I hope you can stay yourself
But it was you that made me me

And you never knew it
