Crashing Waves: Part I

by Poetvoices   Mar 4, 2006

The ocean beyond her.
She stands all alone.
The air is cold on my face.
In moments she hopes to be gone.

High above the water,
she can see it brown and wild.
Begins to think about past times
when she had thought it mild.

The times that she went swimming
trusting these same waves
till they took the one that she adored.
They took him far away.

"I'm going to be a sailor," he'd said.
She'd pretended that was okay,
but since Jon went away,
she hadn't been the same.

She thrusts herself off
to land among the fish.
This never would've happened
had she been granted her only wish.
