Crashing Waves: Part II

by Poetvoices   Mar 4, 2006

Sailor Jon is excited,
but he's worried about his darling wife.
He doesn't know that Belle's not strong enough.
She's decided to end her life.

"I'm almost home!
She'll be so glad,"
he says aloud,
and he hopes so bad.

"I hope she's home.
I can't wait ONE second more!
I need to tell her,
we're no longer poor!"

He casts his net one last time.
Over the starboard side it soars.
This is Jon's way of completing
the last of his sailors' chores.

"What is that thing?" he wonders
as he draws his net back to.
The body of a lady.
Her skin is pale and blue.

A tear rolls down his cheek
as he salutes his Belle.
The one he knew
to do want she wanted so well.
