Vampire's Breath

by Caty   Mar 4, 2006

The stars will cry.
Red tears tonight.
Life becomes a lie.
As a star is dimmed from sight.

Red moon rising.
Streets bathed in the blood of moonlight.
Evil in the shadows lurking.
A brilliant light dimmed at the stroke of midnight.

There are monsters called vampires.
Who roam the world for eternity.
And form evil empires.
Their hearts lost in infinity.

Wishing it was a dream.
The dark is so wide and long.
Choking down a scream.
The gate is closed and his God is gone.

The evil tried to consume him.
Corrupt even the deepest parts of his soul.
He hung on though the future looked dim.
But was still forced to pay the toll.

Robbed of the sun's golden rays.
Simple pleasures in life lost.
Handed great power to be used in unlimited ways.
Eternity given, but at what cost.

Instinct moves the body.
Broken by the rules of desire.
The thirst makes you greedy.
The need a scorching fire.

He is not human anymore.
Instead an earthbound spirit.
The heart of a hero will soar.
There is no need to fear it.

He has an empty smile.
That hides his misery.
But the heart knows it's been a while.
Since he has been truly happy.

Holds his head up high.
Because he is a dreamer.
And tries not to cry.
Knowing life will get better.

He feels alone and apart.
But that can't stop his joyful laughter.
He believes he has a human heart.
And wants to help those who must suffer.

History accumulates billions of bodies.
From hundreds of wars.
Heroes from the Seven Seas.
And very sexy hors.

Slave to the darkness.
He wants to redeem his soul.
Became a savior of the helpless.
So he could reach that goal.

A lifetime of helping to live.
But tears will still be shed.
Because no matter what he can give.
He cannot save the dead.

Searching the world for his place.
Won't let himself be swallowed by pain and regret.
Running a never-ending race.
He holds in his heart the people he has met.

Friendships can't last.
But he remembers their kindness.
The compassion from the people in his past.
And won't give up the fight that seems hopeless.

All life is precious in his eyes.
Everyone deserves a second chance.
Because deep inside is where it lies.
A beautiful light unseen at first glance.

It's morning that he craves.
But the stars are his guide.
Although his path is lined with graves.
He continues to search for the light inside.

Earth is a fragile ball.
That needs to be held with great care.
It could shatter from the smallest fall.
Or crack under the pressure of a malicious stare.

That's why there are heroes.
Selfless people there to save the day.
Protect the world from evil foes.
And be the only ones to pay.
