The Blinding Light

by Darien   Mar 5, 2006

The Blinding Light

These white lights are blinding,
but I can't see anything black.
The blind are left in darkness,
but why can't I see anything?

Disillusioned and hysterical,
why am I going insane?
Look at me I'm talking,
but I'm the only one replying.

These voices in my head,
are not human-like.
Thoughts of a better life,
Seem so far from here.

Walls all around me,
in a room that is small.
A fate I did not see,
and I fail to believe in.

Sadness for the pathetic,
pity for the weak and cynial,
Discovering who we are,
can be the end we await.

Cry my eyes out in regret,
slowly but surely I'm leaving.
If this bright light will save me,
Then I will walk towards it.

I liked how this was written freely without conforming to a rhyming scheme or structure. The simple language you use, makes what you write seem more real and effective. I also liked how it had a postive ending to it, and how you seemed to have some salvation despite all the sadness. :)
