The Moon Has Inspired Man Since The Dawn Of Time

by AGirlWorthFightingFor   Mar 5, 2006

I am the moon, I set orbits, determine time, command waters, symbolize women, control moods
My gravitational hold on the world pulls the strings and coincidence & circumstance, into a masterpiece, woven out of chaos, the fabrics of conformity, sans uniformity
I am a giant mirror, the Echo to your Narcissus, I reflect the sun, & only him, for you are the brightest star in my sky, my light depends on yours, stay close, don’t leave me in the dark, cold & alone I become, on the surface I am but a dull color of grey dust & stone, it is your light alone that makes me shine
I have lived so many years, a billion for a lifetime, taking beating from asteroids, pounding my skull, shooting stars from blackened guns, my facies worn, battered and bruised, has remained soft, despite the abuse, protecting the earth, & those who fear what I do
I change winds, turn tides, guide travelers, save lives, but some of them die
I hurt so much inside ore out, beneath grey dust, hard solid rocks, light as feather, sky born, suspended, soft to the touch, but jagged, a bit rough around the edges
You eclipsed by me, we are defying gravity
One day your light will fade, & I keep moving away, but nobody knows how much longer we have until our dying day, may we never leave, but meet again, when oblivion collides, & in death you absorb me too, & we become One

Hmm.. I could feel this poem. Seemed a bit rushed though. I guess I'm too use to verses. However, very good stuff.
