Dunes of My Affection

The dunes of my affection
Carefully etched
Upon the sand
Soon to be swept away

Many times I have seen
This empty broken road
A road that has no end
No light to lead the way

Drawn upon my heart
I find the flutter
Of a butterfly
Floating softly in the breeze

Deep within my soul
The faint outline of love
Taunting my begotten
Loneliness

Hold me now
Before the sands of time
Erase this wonderful
Depiction of you
