A lesson to learn

by Michelle   Mar 8, 2006

You all look at me
As though I dont belong
Why cant you see
Ive done nothing wrong

I ask if its my personality
Or the clothes and makeup I wear
I ask if its the things I do
Or the way I take a dare

I wonder if its my family
Or the life of my past
Maybe its my friends
Or because I move fast

But you dont know me
Because the outside says nothing
Inside I really care
I swear Im not bluffing

A lesson I learnt
Was to get to know someone
The truth is within their heart
Not what youve seen done

A wise man once told me
Be careful where you find friends
Because at the end of each highway
The road will surely bend

So take this helpful hint
Take it to the heart
Because looks mean nothing
The heart is where you should start
