Not Meant To Last

by RCM   Mar 8, 2006

You can't understand and I can't make you see
But I suspect that it's less to do with you and more to do with me
But that's OK, that's alright, it doesn't really matter
I'm learning that my heart's not made of glass
And won't ever really shatter
Yes maybe there's a chip or two, a slightly broken handle
And maybe there'll be some times when things aren't quite the same
Like every time I look at you or when I hear your name
But times move on and people change and new things take their place
And just like never standing still you're caught up in its haste.
I'll still be here but less involved or as it's been to date
And you can make your own way and follow your own fate.
But don't expect to have me act the way I have before
And don't expect to get the gifts or presents any more
Don't try to understand me or figure out my moods
Just carry on accepting and understand it's you
That somehow will affect me in everything I do
The thing I'll miss most though is losing my best friend
Having you to talk to would have helped my heart to mend.
But as I said, never worry never mind all is in the past
Nothing good in my life was ever meant to last
