Unaware: Part II

by Poetvoices   Mar 8, 2006

He wanted to approach her.
His ego wouldn't allow that,
but he sits ignoring his "friends"
in a brand-name shirt and trucker hat.

They went to the library to goof off
after his suggestion.
She sat across the room reading.
He began asking himself questions.

"Why is it now I notice her?
When she blinks her eyes, my body shutters.
Everything, including her lashes, are beautiful.
Why do her antsy feet make my heart flutter?"

He looked at his group and then back at her.
Which one would he choose?
If he didn't choose her, he could stay "cool,"
but what all would he lose?

All the while, she didn't know
she's was being gazed at from afar.
Apparently, her dream came true--
that wish on a fading star.

He made a decision,
he'll just wait
a few minutes
after an internal debate.

He turns back to his friends,
joins the conversation,
but all the while thinking
about the prior situation.

Will he EVER notice me?
I guess it's time to give up.
I'm getting out of here.
She couldn't take the build-up.

He turns his head in time
to see her walking out the door.
He decides let her leave.
He should've gone before.
