Untainted memory

You use to act
as though you cared
and i the fool believed
but now my eyes
the truth they see

in my heart
the knowledge that i feared
for it lets me know
i have been decieved

sadly now your true feelings show
if i could but shut my eyes
return you to the person i use to know
block out this knowledge
that ive come to realize

just keep the untainted memory
of the blissful images and future
i thought was meant to be

though the wound
you created is quite severe
i swear for you
ill not shed a tear
nor for the genuine friendship
we"ve seemed to have lost

ill just shut my eyes
holding on to
the untainted memory
no matter what it cost
