Walking and Running

We all walk along the road we choose
Absorbed in our own dreams,
Listlessly watching as time goes by,
Ignoring them when people ask us why

We stay staring straight ahead
Forgetting the tears we want to shed
We walk alone, we're proud of it
But, inside it's tearing us apart, bit by bit.

We walk with our heads held high
We think we can fool the world
Only those that love can tell that
We aren't walking, instead.....

We're running......

Running from the pain of things gone wrong,
Running from the fact that we have to face the music,
When we unreservedly hate the song.
Running from the fear of rejection,
only lying to ourselves and
saying we only want perfection.
Running from the memory of that first love,
we thought so true, it had to be sent from above.
our dreams were shattered, so were our hearts
But, instead of admitting the sorrow,
We decide to go for a degree in performing arts.

We're tired of running, tired of hiding
but, terrified that someone will find us
and realize that we aren't who we say we are.
Panting from sheer exhaustion we stop,
only to start again when another hope is crushed
by a cruel but inevitable reality called life.

We need to stop, need to breathe
There is nothing left for us to control
And all we're left with in the end
Is ourselves, facing that huge, gigantic Hole.

If we're fortunate someone grabs Us by the hand
Leading us through the dark, and Helping us when they can
When we're too scared to move on,
and we want to fall from despair and pain
They whisper that everything's gonna be okay,
their here, and that there is nothing that would drag them away.

But woe are they that face that hole alone
for there is no one that will lead them home
No one to comfort them when they're afraid
No one who's help can't be repaid.
Instead, they're left alone to face their fears
and they themselves, must wipe their tears.
They wearily trod, on and on, til' finally they stop
cause' nothing left to live for and they can't move on.
