Vanity's Prayer

by Twisted Heart   Mar 9, 2006

"Oh dear God, so full of Grace,
bless me with a pretty face;
and when you look upon my weight
take a hundred pounds away.
Make my skin soft as honey dew
and then dear God before your through
make me sexy, strong, and wise
put a sparkle in my eyes.
Lift my breast, tuck my gut
I'm not asking for very much;
and my thighs, my legs, my feet,
make them strong, thin, and sleek.
Take the wrinkles from my skin,
take away my double chin,
my sagging shoulders they're a fact
lift them up and pull them back.
One last thing, then you are done
please God please...make me young.
Give me back the years to dream,
I want this more than anything.
It's a lot dear God of grace,
but miracles happen because of faith.
My mirror no longer is my friend
so help me Lord, in your name, Amen."

An old woman sat and said these words
and somewhere, somehow, someone heard;
because next morning at dawn's light
she passed away, gave up the fight.
And as she stood at the pearly gates,
her imperfections went away.
Here she stood young and alive
alas just tipping twenty-five.
Her body firm, her mind so wise,
and a sparkle in her eyes.
And with a smile she finally knew
the gate was open and she walked through.
