My Childhood

*This poem is about my childhood, before the depression, during those few happy years before..well..everything*

I used to know a place
Where friendships grew on trees
And everyone could sing
And laughter danced through the breeze

Everyone could smile
With nothing to hold them back
And everyone was smart enough
There was nothing I could lack

I used to know a place
Where friendships lasted years
And no one had hard choices
And I learnt to smile through tears

Nobody could hit out
Harm themselves or others
Have depression or cry
Hate their fathers or their mothers

I used to know a place
Where there was no fashion
Or bullying or violence
There was only love, and passion

Everyone knew that they were perfect
And that they didn't need to lose weight
And we were thin anyway
Life was happy, life was great

I used to know a place
Where there was nothing bad
No rape, murder or hurt
And we loved what we had

So take me back to that place
Oh take me there please
I want to sing with my friends
And laugh through the breeze
