Through these years

Always looking after me
Making sure I am OK
We always got in fights but we never let them stay
Sharing laughs together
Sharing some tears
Sharing moments that I will hold for years

Knowing when I am upset
You guys always came back with
"It will be OK"
Always looking out for me no matter what
Being a father figure to me
One that I hope shall stay

Arguments I have with mom
Angry moments I have with dad
Feeling unwanted at times
You guys seem to make me glad
I can come and talk to you both
When I feel oh so sad

Growing up these past 16 years
I have learned that when I'm around you guys
I don't have to hold back my fears
Those fears that I have
You have helped me overcome
Sure that I am strong

So protective when it comes to friends
Making sure I am not hurt
Making sure I am not used
Making sure I am content
If I'm not well all you say to them is
BEWARE

As you both grow older into adults
I come home to an empty house
Waiting for that call from you both
Asking me how I am
Asking me how was my day
Even if I don't get that call

I love you both and that will stay the same
