Going Away For Awhile

You came home last night
Anger in your words
I backed away slowly
As silent screams were heard

I barricaded the door
As you knocked recklessly
I lay crying on the floor
Watching the door helplessly

In you came
And grabbed my hair
Was this some kind of game
Your eyes cold without a care

The neighbors heard me
And came down to ask if we were alright
And here it is I couldn't scream
You just smiled and continued the fight

When you let go
You realized who you'd become
I don't think you were able to say no
And I began to bleed some

I told you I was going away
You cried regretful tears
I just want to be able to see another day
It's just been hard these last few years

I'm going away for awhile.......
