Falling

by Danielle   Mar 11, 2006

A petal falls to the ground,
As another tear drains for the eyes of a small child.
An emotion that is never fading,
Haunts the child's every movement.
A wilting flower sits on the shelf,
Craving for life,
While the child holds onto hope,
Of not having to go through this again,
Wanting to never return to another day.
The front door slams,
Instinctively a tear falls slowly down her cheek,
With the fear and pain rising in the bottom of her stomach.
As it looks today, it could be okay,
Or like it was yesterday
With the eyes of fury lurking above.
A new terror crawls inside of her,
Knowing today will be her day.
The pain would be worse than before
If the bad mood returns for another day.
A shadow creeps into the hall
Footsteps thunder closer to the room.
A little child creeps further into the corner.
And another round is saying her name.
Screams are echoed around,
No one listens to the cries,
No one helps relieve the pain,
One last cry, and then a little life floats,
Floats high into the heavens
As peace surrounds her finally as help came when needed.
