Us

Kiss me in the dark,
Hug me in the light,
And hold me through the night.
Don't hold me too tight,
I could slip through the cracks in you fingers
In a matter of moments.
Hold me soft like sand,
Because the softer you hold me,
The less I'll fade away.
The harder you hold me,
The faster I'll slip through your grasp.
Entwine our hands together,
Don't separate your heart.
If you hear my cries and fears,
Don't run away.
Listen to my thoughts,
And take the fears away.
Hold me close and tell me everything will be all right.
Hold me far away and I might start to drift.
Don't play with my heart,
It is delicate and breakable.
It has the love of a teenager,
And the feelings of the adult.
Don't wish I were there with you,
Wish that the next time I see you everything will be perfect.
The next time you see me,
Come up and smile,
Don't frown or cry.
Think of today,
And not tomorrow.
Think of the future,
And not the past.
Think of us,
And don't think of just you and me separate,
Think of us as one.
