I shot a man today

I shot a man today
I watched him slowly die
Pity and sorrow rushed through me
as I heard his painful cry

I stared at the still body
as it lay upon the ground
my eyes filled with tears
while a pool of blood formed around

I made a sign of cross
and asked God to forgive
that the man had to die
and I was left to live

I shot a man today
and to the ground he fell
now I know the truth behind
the statement "War is Hell"
