Fallacies in Fairytales

by Poetvoices   Mar 16, 2006

Once upon a time,
we thought we were in love.
It was something special
sent from up above.

Our meeting was perfect.
Our relationship was fairytale,
at least that's what you made me think.
Things were going so well.

But that's what she thought too
that other girl you'd charmed.
"What's the big deal?" you asked me.
"No one's been harmed!"

That's what you think.
You've left without me emotion.
You sucked me dry of all my love
and stolen my devotion.

You took with you my ability
to love without worry.
Nothing can belittle what you did
even if you were really sorry.

You helped me realize one thing.
Fairy tales aren't real.
You can't know someone
based on how they TELL you they feel.
