Deep down inside

by MaryAnnEvans   Mar 16, 2006

There's a place
deep down inside
where I keep
the things I hide
walls of steel
I built up high
To protect the heart
where it lies
Painful memories
placed there to reside.

Buried deep
in this cold hard place
hoping one day
I'll be able to erase
the pain the hurt
upon my face
a life that could be
just incase
a life that should not
go to waste.

Hold my hand
walk me through
to long I have lived
in this world of blue
I just do not know
what to do
have not got
the slightest clue
how to fix
and start again new.

Am I wrong?
am I right?
to want the simple
pleasures of life?
the darkness
overcomes the light
do not lose sight
hold on tight
get myself
through one more night.

There is still hope
in this heart of mine
hanging on
buying itself time
walls so high
must make the climb
My destiny I hope
one day to find
before I totally
lose my mind.

First of all, thank you for reviewing my poem. You're my first reviewer on this site.

    Onto your poem.

It's quite an interesting and rather intriguing poem. It starts off brilliantly and the reader is instantly drawn into the poem. Good job on that.

The only criticism I have to make is that at times the rhyme doesn't flow and seems forced. But that can happen to the best of us so no real worries :)

That's all I really have to say. Keep up the good work!
