A New Life

by Desperation   Mar 17, 2006

A lonely 3rd grader sleeps all alone
Unaware of the clatter of the night
The quiet hush of the house
The soft cuckcoo of the clock
The creaking of the old wooden floors
The light rumble of the dryer
The soft snoring of a person near by
The honk of a horn in the distance
The soft clicking of the yard gate
Slowly awaking with a big yawn
Looking around for a final goodbye
It’s about time to go
The soft cry begins with a sniffle
The boxes are loaded, the goodbyes are said
The dry autumn leaves rustle around her feet
The soft meow of a cat
The loud grind as the truck takes off
Sitting alone on the steps crying
A lonely girl sniffling in the sun
Walking to the car with a rustle of leaves
The door opens and closes with a loud bang
The young girl gets in tears streaming down her face
The car pulls away
She turns around and looks out the window
Tears in her eyes
Beep beep honk honk there goes her life
The only life she ever knew
A lonely 3rd grader turns into a sophomore
A new life ahead of her new world to conquer
Beep beep honk honk here she comes
