Father's Grave.

by Steven Beesley   Mar 18, 2006

Father's Grave:

Father we have not talked in a long time.
I still treasure the talks we shared,
your wisdom, your advice,
always so comforting and wise.

You could always see something
good even though it was the worst
of times, there was always a
silver lining to each dark cloud.

You taught me to carry on, carry
on even though things may be
bad, to never give up or lose hope.
To keep my faith even in my darkest hour.

You were so much, so much to
me that words would never be enough to say.
You brought me back up when I
was down, taking away the frown from my face.

I still remember what you had said,
if one door slams shut, try
another and it will open.
You taught me always to find another way.

Father I miss you and wish
that we could once again share the
times we once had, the laughter
and the tears.
I miss you so much.

This poem touched me.It makes me think of my piece, Understanding at a graveside I wrote for my father, however it is the exact opposite in subject, my father and I were not close and I envy you the relationship you had with yours.Family, parents are so important in our lives. This is a touching write, the loss of a wise and caring man.Though sad and obviously missing your father, be happy for the time and memories you do have. You were lucky.
