God's Love

For every time they striped your back,
God gave me a smile.
Every drop of blood
gave me more love to add to the pile.

In every thrust of the spear,
I was given new life.
With every tear your mother cried,
God took from my strife.

There's something I feel
I must point out
that leaves no room
for me your love to doubt.

You had anything any human
could ever want for themselves
and you left it all behind for me
and to DIE for everyone else.

God isn't selfish.
You are evidence.
Jesus, you don't mind
being my defense.

You saved me from
unbearable pain

He wants us all
to be with him,
so he used his son
