Standing Strong

by Jon Hunt   Mar 19, 2006

Standing strong, a fortress tight,
Impenetrable against all of might.
But love of kind, of sweetness born,
Breaks through the stone, of walls of torn.
And burns the city of the mind,
To plague the pity of resigned
And find the heel, Achilles spot,
And pressure there, defences not.
Weak and feeble now unfold,
As walls collapse and truths are told.
But lies are spun and faith removed,
And mind unsure, no state improved.
And left this castle in a wreck,
As loves pass on to others' neck.

I LOVED the last line. It had a sort of wicked sadness to it, like a cheated lover standing strong...
    Very nice indeed.

    the best...
