Beach Beauty - Part 2

Beach Beauty Part 2
7/10/04

You reached out to take my hand...
My heart had long left my chest
Your touch sent electricity down my spine
I told my weary mind to take a rest

We walked for what seemed like hours
You told me about your life, year by year
I pulled from the ground a yellow flower
I placed it gently behind your left ear

I was without a doubt the biggest man on the walk
I had the golden beach beauty in my hand
I heard the passers by starting to talk
Above the music of the reggae band

The gentle summer breeze whisking through your hair
As the orange sun slowly went down behind the ocean
Casts a glowing aura of angelic light around your body so rare
My words escaping my mouth with breath taking emotion

Poets have written of infinite love, beauty to die for
But they never set eyes on a girl like you
Juliet, Cleopatra and all the goddesses` of yore
Could not have seen you from my point of view

The smile that slowly crosses my face
Your memory that is clinging to my clothes
Brings me here 22 years later to our familiar place
A path of yellow flowers mark the road

I wait for your return to the Hawaiian ice stand
To take another long walk with you
My golden beach beauty in my hands
Walking the boardwalk of love built just for two.

"Your memory that is clinging to my clothes"

I absolutely love that line! It is brilliantly written, but the entire piece is spectacular. You set the scene beautifully without losing momentum throughout the poem. Truly great stuff.
