A grave goodbye

by herewithme   Mar 20, 2006

She looked at her wrist
at the black ribbon that resides there
its a symbol of love,
a token that she cares

yesterday was host to a grave goodbye
but strangely enough she couldnt
bring herself to cry

it wasnt that she wasnt sad
but she'd rather keep the memories she already had

she stood to speak about the life of this child
this girl fun & crazy & wild
infront of parents, siblings and friends
she explained how the girl met her untimely end

the girl they saw, always cheerful and smiling
no one realised that underneath the pain was piling

standing at the podium, a tear ran down her face
she just let it fall, to its true and rightful place
"if she only looked and saw
how many loved and cared
maybe she wouldnt be where she is,
and we wouldnt all be in despair"

"we hoped to say goodbye to you
much later on in life
but today we give our grave goodbye
after a meeting with a sharpened knife"

[dedicated to holly - my best friend]
