Hands of Time

by Bill Turner   Mar 20, 2006

If it were up to me to turn back the clock
I would never have let you slip through my arms
So many times I made you cry with my nefarious ways
Gladly I would go back to that first night together
Kissing you, holding you, and I would make it last forever

Like mercury I slipped through your fingers
Only to pool and appear later on, wanting more of you
Again, slipping away into the night leaving you hurt
I have given you my heart, my honor and my word
For you listened to me and my love for you was heard

Times and people change as seasons often do
Recovering from myself and the abyss I fell into
Coming out the man I was meant to be, the man I had been
As I hold you in my arms, mesmerized by your love
Realizing it is more than chance, maybe intervention from above

I will never bring sorrow to your world, making you cry
I promise to be the love and light in your existence
Anchoring you in the storms of life, always there for you
Take my hand and walk this path with me, laughing all the while
I promise to always give you my love and a wonderful smile

This time around I will hold onto you with all I am
Wandering off our chosen path only to pick you a flower or two
Hold onto me and let me feel secure, as I have lacked that for so long
You have given me all that I could have ever asked for out of my life
Forever honored am I that you have promised to be my wife
