A Lullaby of Lies

by Leah   Mar 22, 2006

She wasn't really anyone special
or anyone to admire
she wasn't exactly beautiful
or anyone to really desire.

She would spend long hours
all alone, confinement
in her own pain
talking to herself or god
finding happiness she couldn't
attain.

Longing to be freed of herself
longing to have someone to care
but she was broken from the start
with wires to ripped to repair.

A lullaby of lies
she's wrapped herself within
like a blanket to protect
hoping to see,
the cuts thick within her skin.

Hiding behind a shallow breath
of water and of air
she wasn't anything special
or anything really rare.

Let's take away the bruises
and lets mend all of her
unwanted anguish
finding peace and freedom
the power of a wish.

An ordinary girl
living an eternal life
freeing herself of agony
finding serenity within a knife.

I look back at how she
hated herself
wondering,
how did she ever deal?
did she ever mend?
did she really ever heal?

Watching her from within her
all those nights alone she cried
and when she looked into a mirror
the desire, to be on the other side.
