Grandfather Clock

by Wings Of Flames   Mar 23, 2006

Grounding of bones,
Ears twingle in fright,
Dare I venture the stairs?
A dark, cold night,

Wrapped in my sheets,
Warmth seeping from fear,
Crunching of a rib cage,
An image of a sneer,

Dragged from the domain,
Hammering heart beat,
Steps creeping trecherous,
Stranger's midnight treat,

Reaching for the banister,
My shaky, clammy hands,
Petrified of the next scene,
But it's what curiosity demands,

Creep to the doorway,
Fear of slipping ridge,
To see my father leeming over,
The humming of the fridge.....
