Medication..

by Luke   Mar 23, 2006

He came home to see..
His whole life, cold..
Don't go in that cupboard..
She was always told..

He'd only left her alone..
For a short space of time..
He didn't think of the harm..
He didn't think of the crime..

His whole life and joy..
His little baby daughter..
And that cupboard off bound..
He had always taught her..

The cupboard was filled..
right to the top..
All his medication..
From his last op..

So many jars..
Pop-off tops too..
They were unsafe..
And he always knew..

Something would happen..
She would open up..
One of the jars..
Swallow without a cup..

Today was that day..
When the little girl wandered..
She looked at the racks..
Wondered and pondered..

She opened the pink one..
The one labeled "Only one"
But she poured them all in..
Thinking it was all fun..

He came home the second..
she hit the floor..
He saw the pot drop..
As he opened the door..

Why was he stupid..
Enough to keep them there?
Why didn't he worry..
Didn't he care?

Now his whole life..
Is stiff on the ground..
Dead was his daughter..
The moment she was found.

Really sad poem. I don't know what else to say that it's a terrible situation for a character to be in.
