Internal Tears

by Sydney   Mar 23, 2006

(This is a Sonnet poem. 14 lines, 10 syllables in each line, with a rhyme scheme)

Eyes full of misery, fighting the tears
She struggled with men through-out all her years
She covered her pain with a fake smile
All alone, she cried for a long while

The depressed girl looked at her reflection
And thought she could never reach perfection
The image revealed a sad, broken girl
That couldn't be alone in this cold world

Worried, her friends asked if she was okay
Lying through her teeth,"Yeah, I'm great today"
She knew that her words weren't reality-
Deep down there was pain the eye couldn't see

Though her heart is shattered and tears are stained,
That mask stayed on, but the scars still remained
