A Little Girl At The Age Of Four

by andrea   Jan 26, 2004

A little girl at the age of four
was left all alone at her fathers front door

her mother died
the girl so young
she hadn't even cried

i caught her alone
she was on the phone
to the sky she looked
in hand a big book

Sarah honey what are you doing
calling mommy she said
cant i still call her even though she is dead?
no Sarah, come lets go to bed

before she's tucked in
her hair must be brushed
looking at me with tears in her eyes
"i don't have a mommy to do my hair in pretty ways" she cries

i held her in my arms
as if never to let go
i knew from then on, it was me she looked up to

i kiss her good night
turned out the light

I'll try to stay strong
for as long as i may

since the little girl was left on that day.
