True Colors

by Jennifer   Mar 23, 2006

It never ceases to amaze me
How people can be
Their true colors they want
no one else to see

But you were different
I felt so in my heart
You showed me your colors
From the very start

Your side of yellow
Happy and bright
I knew you could make me laugh
And make my problems alright

The shades of green
That lie behind your eyes
Showing you could be protective
Sometimes jealous of other guys

When it comes to trust
You showed your sides of blue
Promising you'd always be loyal
Always be true

The passion of red
From deep inside
The attraction between us
That neither could hide

The uniqueness of orange
Like no other
Your personality was incomparable
To that of another

All your colors that you showed
Were nothing to compare
To the color you held within
That I didn't know was there

The color of lies, dishonesty,
A knife in the back
You didn't show your truest color
But I have learned it is black

For everytime I have trusted you
It hasn't meant a thing
All the colors were a cover up
For all the heartache you'd bring

I'll never understand what
Caused this to occur
And I guess I never will
When you're still lying about her
