I've fallen into a memory,
When childhood innocence was still around.
Clinging to a metal, painted horse.
And riding a merry-go-round.
The air is filled with carnival music,
Playing loudly and continuously in my ear.
And the sweet smell of cotton candy,
Never seems to disappear.
People close by are all laughing hard,
I am spun faster and soon all I can see is a blur
Of lights, bright colours, and carnival sights.
And soon the cool air whooshes by with a whir.
I stare gleefully at my smiling parents,
Wave proudly and enjoy the ride.
Nothing can ever replace
This immense happiness I feel inside.
I grasp the horse tightly with my tiny palms,
As the world moves quickly all around me.
Drastic changes are approaching.
My happy-go-lucky fantasies leave and desert me,
The second I step off of that horse.
