Too Much Pain

The knife is at my wrist,
I am about to do the deed.
I'm about to end it all,
this pain that I don't need.

The phone rings
I pick it up
Thank god it's you...

I was about to do it,
the thing I promised not to...
I was going to leave this world,
and all the pain that it causes.

We talk for a while,
but now you have to go.
We hang up the phone,
and I am left with my thoughts.

I look at the knife,
that god dammed knife.
Oh look, now it's in my hand.

It bites the skin,
the blood comes forth.
I watch it well up
and gather in my lap,
like all of lifes stupid, insignificant
trivialties.

I carve the designs,
my arm is red now,
and I seem to float away
on this blissful cloud of pain.

I wear long sleeves the next day,
so that no one will know...
It itches and talks to me...
It wants more pain...

I can't take this anymore,
pain is no escape from pain,
let's just end it all now,
with a slice at my wrists.

My dying words
slip slowly from my mouth...
"Please forgive me my friends,
I'm so sorry..."

The words slip away,
as does my life,
thank god the pain is gone...
