The tears left behind

The flowers lay lonely and bare
only covered with tears of its own share.
papers stained with hours of crying
letters from one that was dying.
the many tears left on her pillow
were evidence her sorrows would billow.
they forgot her for another
her fiery tears she could not smother.
everything lay a mess
tears had fallen on her dress.
broken life, broken heart
the sea of tears they could not part.
silently the tears did fall
form all problems great or small.
the path left by fears
one could call "the trail of tears"
