Single Parents

by Michelle   Jan 26, 2004

The life of a single parent
Is sometimes hard to take
There are so many moments
I could just really use a break.
Money's always tight
Time is always short,
And if there is a problem,
It's me who has to sort it out.
I blew a circuit breaker
The car won't start again
I bounced three checks at the bank
Will it ever end?
The child support rarely comes
And the few times I get a check,
I know that it will be months
Before another to expect.
Go to work each morning,
Laundry started after that
Now that supper's over
Try to find time with my close friends to chat.
Love is hard to find
Not many want the baggage,
But to me that isn't what it is
Just part of the whole package.
As difficult as it can be,
The rewards are at least as great
When I'm down and need a hug
My son doesn't hesitate.
We tell each other every day
How much we love on another
And I field his questions as to why
He doesn't (yet!) have a brother!
Someday perhaps there will be someone
And I won't be alone
But for now my son and I
Do just fine on our own.

I love you Corey...I wouldn't have missed it for the world...Love, Mom
