Tiara Confessions

by Chelsey   Mar 27, 2006

That beautiful pink dress
Sparkles as I walk across the ballroom
The blush and glitter on my cheeks
Hides my frustration and gloom

“I do not want to be here”
I think with a smile
As I wave my white glove
To people who drove quite some miles

The light shines on me
As I wait for a man
Who my parents picked out
To take my hand

I see all the men in their tuxes
And woman in their gowns
This man I’ve never met
Was no where to be found

For I have found love though
We met in the flower field
I was running oh so fast
Then stopped and kneeled

Cried for a little bit
Hating the life I was gave
Wishing I had a shovel
To dig my own grave

He came with a notebook
Writing poetry that day
Just a poor teenage man
Who took my breath away

I pictured his face
As I stood in the middle of the floor
I wished for something to happen
So I didn’t have to be here anymore

The man approached me
He was older then I
Already gray hairs
Any day he could die

I did not want to marry him
A tear fell off my cheek
As he kissed my hand
I had nothing to speak

I did not want to be rude
But I took my tiara off my head
Screamed at my parents
“I’d rather be dead”

As I ran back to the field
There that poor boy was
I actually wanted a life like his
I wanted to do what he does

I wrote my parents a letter
Explaining I would not go back home
Stamped it “Tiara Confessions,
Please leave me alone”

*Special thanks to Sunny! She gave me this title and I went somewhere with it! Thank you SUnny its very much appreciated! LOVE YOU WOMAN!*

Oh wow. this poem is amazing. I think you have done an excellent job. I am able to see this story unfold in front of me. I can feel the emotion of the poor girl, and it is amazingly done. This piece is vivid and has a personal touch though it is a common story. 5/5

The title caught my eye and I was stunned that such a wonderful piece could unfold from an already eye-catching title! A delightful read indeed (: I love the last verse, how you connect tiara confessions with prom/ball/dance was amazing. 5/5!
