On the biggest day of his life...

by Danushiya   Mar 28, 2006

Between all the cheering and applauses he came on stage
Tackling all the obstacles he was a bird free from its cage
He turned this way and that with a heart filled with joy
The joyous crowds screamed his name; and said, “He is still a small boy!”

The show was to start and everyone was having a blast
But think of the nervous boy whose heart was thumping so fast
The music started to play but his eyes seemed blur and his ears deaf
Seeing the big crowd from everywhere, from north, south, east and west

But he was strong and sang with his voice shriller than ever
But oh those words, seemed to be dragging on forever
When he was finally done with a relieving sigh, he bowed and grinned, yes grinned so wide,
And all the praising and comments seem to support his side.
The other only competitor (his friend) sang but he was nowhere on there, he was building castles in the air,
For all the fame and for the million, which he thought he was the heir.

The announcer took them both to his either side
When the judgment had come, he turned away from him to his friend’s side
People burst out applauding; his friend was the star for the day
He stood there smiling, what more could he say?
The winners eyes were watery, he was happy as anyone could see,
The unfortunate boy hugged his friend with hearty wishes, being so nice as he could ever be.

But that boy was always their super star
For most people who did care!
