The Mask

by S R P   Mar 28, 2006

Forgotten and alone,
it's completely unfair.
The things that I've hidden,
they're everywhere.

I see the laughing faces
they won't seem to stop
even when I fall to my knees,
even when the tears finally drop.

The pain inside just won't cease,
what you can't see,
you don't believe.

When I show you my scars
you don't understand.
How could this be a human?
You act like it was all planned.

You scowl at me,
like I did something wrong.
You make me believe
that I do not belong.

If I told you that at night
I always seem to cry?
when I'm home alone,
I only want to die?

How could I tell you
that this pain is slowly killing me?
Like a disease
it won't let me breathe.

How could I tell you
that my world has come apart?
How could I tell you
that it's tearing out my heart?

This is the future I see
when I try to take off the mask.
This is what I believe
when I try to let it all out.
