Memories

Edited 4/3

Up in the attic
and what do i see
puff pf dust
and web covered walls

boxes and boxes
full of great memories
pictures and scrapbooks
of fun filled vacations

a smiling one-year-old;
a bubbly- three year old;
a jump rope with a child of seven;
12, and on the way to the movies
all alone

13 and 14 filled with smiles;
shining 16 with her first boyfriend;
17, a pouty preadult
and all alone on prom night

18 brings senior year
with prom again with a love
finally tearful graduation
saying goodbye to all lovely friends

now she gone off
for fours years alone
away from home
but she still remains

in that attic
of an empty home
mother father long gone
two siblings in college

her shadow calls
for her to come home
a glimpse of the past
to light the rooms
that are now unlit.
