Little one

by Holly Estrella   Mar 29, 2006

O little one, your so sweet
You don't know any better
My heart breaks to see you so cold without a sweater

Your face is so dirty
And your eyes are so sad
I say hello to you and smile
You get so happy and glad

You ache so much for love
Your mom ignores your tugs
You cry for what other kids have
Not toys-but mommy's hugs

Those bruises on your arms and legs bring me to tears
I wish I could wrap you up in my arms and relieve all your fears

I'm so sorry you were born to a
Mother so selfish and mad
It's not your fault and Jesus knows
For now-your life is too bad

When you are grown
If you make it that long
Learn from you parents mistakes
Show abundant love and be strong

Many hearts weep for your pain
I will always believe and pray
Pray you will stay safe and fed
And that you'll live to see another day
