Beyond A Cover

by Sean Dohr   Mar 30, 2006

I am but a book,
a book beyond a cover.
If you step inside my cover and look,
a whole new world you will discover.

At times the words do not make sense,
and at times I stutter and stumble.
Sometimes my thoughts are too immense,
and my mind and body crumble.

Sometimes my pages are tattered and torn,
from issues in the past.
You should understand why my cover is worn,
because of all the problems I've had to outlast.
But this is all fine, as long as you see,
that when you look past my cover there is much more to me.

Some lines didnt go with the poem but it had a good meaning and what you were trying to picture came out well.

Nice poem. I liked the structure - but if you lengthened a few lines and made it into just one section, it would be in the shakesperian sonnet form, which would rather suit the context.

Sometimes my thoughts are too immense,
and my mind and body crumble.

I really liked those lines, I think too much sometimes, and it really hurts when I do :(

    Peace. [Sole]

You know what they say never judge a book by its cover and you definetly proved this "saying" right!
